Thoughts from a Nurtured Heart . . . |
As I contemplate what’s over, 2017, and what’s next, 2018, I love the image of a hammock strung between over and next. That hammock is the present. I heard this idea on Oprah’s Super Soul podcast interview with Norman Lear. The hammock is a pause, a reeling into this moment and the choices I have right now between over and next. It can be a time to notice what is - birdsong, sunlight, shadows, clicks, whirrs, inhale, exhale, a return to my skin and sensations within, a moment of gratitude. This stretch between over and next can be an oasis of calm and stillness. Funny, while it can be a challenge to get in and out of a hammock, the time spent there is always refreshing.

![]() I am so grateful for Amy Schiefelbein and her courageous and intuitive leadership. With her encouragement, NHA trainers in her building have recently compiled a shared document in which they write about the strengths they see in each other. Reading this is a powerful way of soaking up energy, whether reading about yourself or another person. This document inspires greatness and will hopefully spark ideas to do something similar in your setting. Here’s a sneak peek: 2 pages of a 13 page document, more than a dozen contributors, celebrating 15 people. Thank you, Amy, for your trust, wisdom, and follow through!
