“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

Another take on reset...

Access the
SILLY in reSILIence...

Smile,
Imagine a ridiculously worse outcome,
Laugh and Linger momentarily to
Learn, then Lean into
Your strengths and apply them to this opportunity.

Repeat as needed to keep the re- in resilience, too!

If we practice on the small inconveniences life throws at us, we'll be more ready for bigger challenges.

Energy is love...

Children intuitively know that energy is available, and they experiment with the environment to tap into it. Consider that ENERGY IS LOVE, no matter if accessed through misdeeds or appropriateness. Kids will dance and flit in pursuit of connectivity. By building inner wealth we support children, youth, ourselves and others in becoming increasingly adept at accessing love and successfully using intensity.

Consider reasons to slow down as invitations rather than roadblocks. Take advantage of the opportunity to pause and reflect. It's nobody's fault. Give yourself that time. You deserve it.

Always aim...

I have been listening to golf great Arnold Palmer's memoir, A Life Well Played: My Stories (2016). One of Arnie's intentions on the course was to "always aim for the hole." His message: no matter the length of the shot, always remember your ultimate goal. Applying this concept to the Nurtured Heart Approach, I am reminded: always aim for the heart.

Ancient Greek Greatness

Today I had the opportunity to observe and listen as fourth grade students and their teacher worked on a Greek urn scratch art project. It was a joy to hear kids share their greatness: "I have strength, loyalty and patience..."

During this art history lesson, students were affirmed for qualities and behaviors that support learning as well as for their application of content objectives including pattern, line, symbol, symmetry, positive and negative space, etc. NHA® founder, Howard Glasser refers to alternating recognitions between behavior and content as "right foot  left foot" teaching. Bravo, T. Christenson, for your attentiveness, encouragement, and nurturing.

Apologies

"Say you're sorry." Sound like a broken record?
In Stand 3 we don’t demand or require apologies. While we absolutely want to honor sincere acknowledgment and efforts to make amends, we can easily fall into a negativity trap if we energize the need for apologizing. Forcing requests for forgiveness breeds judgment, shame and bitterness. We also need to be cautiously aware of possible cycles of misdeeds followed by juicy connection in the act of repair. It's all about paying attention to where our energy goes.

The Thoughts from a Nurtured Heart blog includes ideas and perspectives encountered through intentional living. Posts include ideas that support NHA but are not necessarily explicit teachings of Howard Glasser. I've done my best to properly attribute ideas I borrow from others.
